Advantages: Really funny narration, tactical voting, back-stabbing- amusing reality tv

Disadvantages: Sometimes the show is aired one host at a time and its annoying having to wait to see who wins!

A show about cooking, voting (sometimes tactically!), reality tv and comedy.

The basic set up of the show is that 5 people who have never met before are asked to host a dinner party, taking it in turns over a week. They recieve a £125 food allowance in order to make the food for their nights respectively. At the end of the night each person votes for the host and the one with the most votes at the end of the week wins £1000. The contestants for the week all hail from the same town, city or village and a different place is featured each week. Channel 4 sometimes air a week's worth of Come Dine with Me altogether (usually shortened to 4 episodes) or 5 episodes over the duration of a week.

This may sound like a boring version of Big Brother with cooking but its so good that I actually watch the Channel 4 catch-ups if I ever miss an episode! Now you're thinking, either this reviewer is really sad, or the show is THAT good....Believe me it's a bit of both!

I love cooking anyway so watching the hosts buy their ingredients, prepare the food (sometimes with everything going wrong) and then host the party is good fun. When the voting becomes tactical it's even more interesting and it's hard not to find yourself rooting for a particular person to win.

What makes this show so watchable and so enjoyable however is not the voting, the clashing of personalities or the food- its Dave Lamb. He used to be on Goodness Gracious Me and he was excellent in that. Now he narrates Come Dine with Me and his sense of humour is so good that we're always in stitches over his jokes.

ITV have attempted to do their own version of Come Dine with Me with the rubbish Houseguest- they've even included a funny narrator but he doesnt compare to Dave Lamb. Watch come Dine with Me- it's got everything you could possibly want from a comedy show/cooking show/reality tv show- all in one.

Great family viewing.

Summary: A fun show

Have to agree - the sarcastic voice over is what makes this show! The celebrity version is usually like a car crash, too!

Surprisingly addictive show, lifted above the masses by Dave Lamb, the human incarnation of Sarcasm. He reminds me of Harry Hill.

I'm with you! Dave Lamb "Mr Narrator" is very funny and there have been a few laugh out loud moments.

It really is a bizarre show to be addicted to, if you want to see scheming and have laughs, get hold of the Blackburn episodes!
