Advantages: Funny!

Disadvantages: Can drag sometimes.

When you hear the name of this television programme, which aires on Channel 4, on what seems to be me like a very regular basis, you could be forgiven for assuming that you would be learning classy culinary techniques and new recipes. To be honest, you would probably be wrong, because there are no professional chefs and often I am left pondering how some people can eat the items served.

Basically, four to five people that are living in the same area have to cook for each other, at their house, one by one. After each meal, every contestant rates it in secret, and at the end of the program, the person with the highest ratings all together wins £1000, which is served on one of those metal restaurant server thingies with lift off lid.

There may be a mix of people, including a student, a hippy, a couple of mature ladies (bitchiness to the extreme!) and maybe a single mum.

I watch it for the sheer entertainment value. Sometimes, the Women are so incredibly bitchy and nasty towards, often a Christian male contenstant that you are left feeling extremely sorry for him! What's most funny though is when they are at war with each other. It's particularly funny when they are rather large slobs, who tip toe around with young-girl's sparkly hand bags and tell each other off for antics like smelling a dish before tucking in, or offer some of their "professional" cooking advice on some spice that has been used incorrectly by another contestant.

Despite this self proclaimed culinary knowledge, they pretty much always lose, and this is an incredibly satisfying end to the show!

Like I say, this show is for entertainment only rather than education, but in my opinion, it is well worth a watch.

Summary: Worth a look :)

I hate the fact there's always a vegetarian. I know they need to show diversity and adaptability, but I've been to plenty of dinner parties without vegetarians :D
