Advantages: The narrator is hilarious

Disadvantages: Repetitve formula

There's a lot of cookery shows on TV. There's a lot of reality shows on TV. Channel 4 need a new series... hmmmm! Eureka, combine the two together and what do we get? Channel 4's latest in daytime repetitiveness, making five strangers cook consecutive dinner party's for each other, score them and win a thousand pounds. Throw in an amateur amount of camera work, a "cheeky" but unseen presenter and an obvious clash between the five contestant in race, age and attitude and keep cooking for months on end.

Sounds like a recipe for a visual stomachache, well somehow these individual irritable ingredients have combined very well in the TV programming pot and this show becomes compulsive and entertaining. The clash of contestants (especially after a few drinks) is hilarious to watch, more so than the food the host prepares yet that "cheeky" narrator steals the show easily. His wry quips and sarcastic undertones reassures you that Channel 4 haven't taken this programme too seriously and that they play up to this immensely.

The other key to this amateurish production is the fact that contestants win a thousand pounds, all the while they have to prepare a meal for 5 with drinks and many go over the top to impress. My own tactic if I ever went on the show would be spend a couple of quid on beans and toast for all, be safe in the knowledge I wasn't going to win and sit back while I scoff down 4 other three-course meals! Now that would be entertaining (for me anyway)!

Summary: A cheaply made but engrossing daytime filler from Channel 4
