Advantages: Funny, easy-watching

Disadvantages: I think I've seen them all now!

Come Dine With Me is fantastic relaxing viewing and I got totally addicted to it.

The Idea:
5 strangers take it in turns to host a dinner party Monday to Friday. The guests mark the host out of 10 for their efforts, not just on the food but on the entire evening including their hosting skills and entertainment value. The types of dinner parties vary from basic down-to-earth home-cooking, to fancy champagne and caviar style events. Sometimes at the dinner parties they even bring in some kind of entertainment like a dancer or singer (normally a friend they've talked into doing it, or worse they do it themselves!).

Why is it so good?
Come Dine With Me is really relaxing viewing and if you enjoy the occasional lazy Sunday like I do, catching the Come Dine With Me omnibus is fantastic (but it does take up a good few hours of your day....best watched with a hangover).
There are a few different reasons why I enjoy it so much:
- Firstly, because I enjoy eating nice food and this gives you some good tips and gets your mouth-watering.
- Secondly because it's a hilarious. Even more than a cookery programme I would class it as a comedy. Putting 5 people together, purposely from different backgrounds and different tastes in food invariably causes some kind of trouble. Behind-the-scenes interviews are done throughout the evening and normally the guests end up criticising each other. Sometimes there are snide remarks between them, and sometimes there are full-on falling outs. When one of the guest gets a little too drunk and either embarrasses themselves or offends someone it's especially funny.
- Thirdly because of the commentator, Dave Lamb. He's hilarious and totally makes fun of the people on the show. He's consistently sarcastic and it's really funny listening to his comments as the show goes on.

Details:
It's on at 5:30 weekdays on Channel 4, or you can catch it on a Sunday afternoon. Obviously timings change depending on if the series has ended, if it's repeats etc. You can also buy a Come Dine With Me cookbook these days

Summary: A funny cookery show, not just for foodies

I usually watch this during the week whilst I'm cooking the tea. you are certainly right about Dave lamb he is hilarious. The celebrity ones have certainly been an eye opener especially when the other guests inspected his knicker drawer ( an episode best watched when you haven't just eaten me thinks ) :-O
