Advantages: Fun, Relaxing, Easy to watch programme

Disadvantages: Quite addictive and annoying if you miss an episode

I found Come Dine With Me on television a couple of months ago and have been hooked ever since. The idea of the show is simple - 5 complete strangers within the same locality have to host and cook a dinner party for their 4 unknown guests. These guests then secretly rate each other at the end of the evening and the person with the highest score recieves the £1000 prize at the end.

Since I started watching this programme, I have found myself more and more addicted to it. It is a fun daytime show with funny and sarcastic commentary throughout which I absolutely love.

Each guest cooks three courses of their preference and this can range from the weird and wonderful to the most basic of dishes. It is not only the cooking that is important though as the hosting is also taken into consideration when the guests score each other points at the end of the evening. I have actually seen a couple of episodes as well where the host has tried to 'cheat' by getting caterers in or a friend to cook. I use cheat quite loosely as the rules stipulate that you need to provide a meal for your guests not actually cook it and so some people try to get away with this. Unfortunately their guests don't often take to kindly to this and whilst it may have been a fantastic meal, it does kind of defeat the point of the show and they often find that there guests score them lower than they would have done had it been home cooked.

Each episode makes great viewing not only for the cooking aspect but also the interaction aspect of seeing five complete strangers try and get on with one another. Most recently there have also been a few celebrity versions of this programme which have also been great fun to watch.

Overall I think this is a great show devised from a simple concept and would highly recommend watching it.

Summary: Great show devised from a simple concept!
