Advantages: Good fun, Great narration

Disadvantages: Wannabes!

Come Dine with Me is a unusual twist on the usual cooking shows, that when described to you sounds a bit rubbish but in reality is strangely addictive and compelling television.

The concept of the show is that 4 or 5 members of the public compete to win a £1000 cash prize by hosting dinner parties, attended by the other contestants who then mark the evening based on the quality of food, entertainment and any other aspects of the evening.

The show works in my opinion as both a reality show, showing how members of the public in the same way as big brother does and as a cooking program as each of the contestants have to prepare a 3 course menu containing a starter, main course and pudding.

The difference between contestants never fails to amaze with some obviously experienced cooks prepared to put a huge amount of effort into winning the cash prize and some novice cooks failing miserably.

The highlight of the show for me is the narration of comedian Dave Lamb, who rather than add to the visuals, he takes the p*** out of whatever the contestants say or do.
