Advantages: Brings criminals and scams to the attention of the public.
Disadvantages: none,apart from the crews safety
Over the years I have watched most of the Cook Reports,they have been really interesting,Roger Cook goes after the criminals,and although he often puts himself in danger,he does his best to get to the bottom of the investigation.
I think the cameramen and sound crew deserve a word of praise as well,they are very often assaulted.
Roger Cook has had several death threats made against him,to me that just shows he is getting to the crux of some scams and upsetting a few people !!!
The Cook report warns us of scams to beware of,he exposes the criminals who are trying to rip the public off.
Very often they will have an update on a case where the person at the centre of the investigation has surfaced under another business name,and is up to their old tricks again.
We need programmes like this to show us exactly what sort of scams are out there,and how they are working,we are far to trusting a nation,we send money off to P O Box address's in the hope of making money,with little or no realistic hope of getting anything back.
Salesmen come into our houses and force us to sign for things we don't want.
Some people advertise as repairmen and charge vast amounts of money to repair appliances that a genuine engineer would mend for a fraction of the cost.
The people who rip off the elderly by saying the roof needs mending and then charge them thousands to replace a couple of tiles are just rotten to the core,the Cook report has exposed many of them.
The programmes where they "plant" a fault on an otherwise perfect washing machine,and then call several so called engineers out to mend them, are very enlightening.
You would think that if someone advertises in the Yellow Pages,they are genuine,but as the Cook report has shown in many of their programmes,that is definatly not the case.
Just goes to show that if these people feel that paying the high cost of advertising in the Yellow Pages is worthwhile,they must b
e making a mint.
I was disturbed a while back to read newspaper reports that the Cook report programmes were "set up"...I do not believe that for a minute.
