Come Dine With Me:
... to real reality TV. That s TV which shows what really goes on within real peoples lives for a brief moment in time as opposed to the drivel pedalled out by Big Brother as being real but fails miserably with an assortment of real people who would never in a million years end up together anywhere other than in the not so scientific Big Brother House. Channel 4s Come Dine With Me selects its four contestants fr... Read the full review: Voyeristic look at the nations homes and cooking skills by moo2moo |

Come Dine With Me ... have come to be quite a fan of this programme - despite being a vegan! I think this is because the real action of the series comes from the human interaction rather than prolonged close-ups of food (meat) preparation. How it works This is a series built around dinner party etiquette and behaviour. The idea is that four strangers are brought together for a week - each attending all of the others dinner parties. After each dinner party they are invited to vote on their experience - awarding marks out of ten whilst in a taxi on the way home. At the final dinner party - when the last votes are cast - the host of that party gets to announce the winner and runner-ups. ... Nigel Slater's Simple Suppers ... love cooking and gardening and therefore enjoy the television shows that go with it. I find them relaxing as well as informative and very inspiring even if they do make everything seem way too easy! The pantries are usually full of exotic ingredients that you would have already in stock that you picked up on your round at the local supermarket. Well, that s not what my pantry or kitchen cupboards are like - although they are getting close to it! The official synopsis for this BBC production is: "Nigel Slater demonstrates straightforward, down to earth cooking, filmed at his home vegetable patch and on friends allotments. Each programme takes us through a week ... Read the full review: Simple Nigel Makes Simple Flavours but Complicated Tastes by JHWilts |

Nigel Slater's Simple Suppers ... enjoy cooking occasionally, but I always seem to be in so much of a rush when doing it. I really want to get things done as soon as possible - why waste time cooking when you could be doing something else; like eating the food you have created. When I am in the kitchen, I probably waste more time thinking about getting the timing right, than prepping the food, beforehand. I relish the challenge of seeing how quickly I can get into the kitchen and get out with a plate of food that is cooked and presented just right, in as short a time as possible. This is probably more to do with watching TV chefs and gazing in wonder at how things seen to just happen and within minute... Read the full review: Simplicity by MisterReview |
