Created by Tony Warren and first braodcast on 9 December 1960, Coronation Street is a soap opera based on the lives of a number of families living on 'coronation street' a fictional street based in Manchester, England. The show deals with everyday problems withing these families, It deals with these problems just like any regular family would. The show relates with everday northern people and that is one of the main reasons it is still going strong after 45 years. Coronation street is a British institution and watched by millions of devoted followers or just by people who want cheering up. The Rovers Return the main focul point of the show is a pub, There is always something happening in The Rovers Return, and it is usualy the place where most things come to ahead or where the locals go for a friendly chat. Ken Barlow (played by William Roache) is the longest serving cast member, he has been on the show since the first episode.
