Not just for the oldies!!! (Coronation Street)

Coronation Street is often sited as the soap for the "older generation" but I disagree with this completly.

I am now 17 and have been a "corrie" fan since I was a little kid who used to watch it three times a week on my mummy's knee :) It's now on four times a week (Sun,Mon,Wed,Fri) and is still just as good.

Corrie might not be the most realistic programme on television, but then who would want to watch a programme based entirely on real-life events on a street, you may as well look out the window for that!

Coronation street manages to combine humour, serious issues, and good quality drama, into each and every episode. The hilarious antics of Jack and Vera, the powerful drama of Sarah's kidnapping by Gary, and Roy and Hayley's "buying" of Wayne, are to name but a few of the supurb recent story-lines. Everyone can pick one of the current story-lines that in some way relates to their own life.

So, what makes Coronation Street different to the other soaps around? In my opinion, it is far more realistic than programmes like Eastenders, and Brookside. Also, it appeals to a much wider audience as the stories can be related to from anyone, from young children to the elderly. It is no wonder that it is the longest running soap because it attracts such a large audience, and never fails to impress me.

I recommend Coronation Street to everyone, whether you're a soap fan or not, are young, old, or whatever. If you haven't seen it before, give it a look the next time you have a free half hour at 7:30.
