Advantages: a great soap, loads of storylines
Disadvantages: eastenders is better
For over 40 years Coronation Street has been broadcasted to our screens and hept us entertained for a long time. Back in 1960 for the first time Coronation Street was brought to our screens ready to keep us happy for many years to come. With the likes of Ken Barlow and Mike Baldwin fighting over dear old Dierdrie how could you not want to watch good old Corrie. Coronation street is one of the best soaps around but I have to agree with a lot of people that Eastenders is still top. Like every soap Coronation Street has it's local shop and it's famous pub. But instead of the Queen Vic or the Woolpack we get the cheery Rovers Retern currently owned and run by Dougie Ferguson. The rovers Return has brought us many traumas and memories over the years. From buses crashing into it to bingo nights you will never forget! It has also been owned by a great deal of people, Nathalie, Dougie, Betty and loads more. Mostly women that most men are frightened of!This is certainly a pub you will never forget. Also the storylines are great, some are a bit farfetched but it isn't real so that doesn't matter. When watching Corrie you are taken to a different reality where everything is different from the normal world. On Coronation Street you would expect to find disasters that would usually occur every year or so, but this street is certainly unlucky! Many of the storylines have kept you watching fora long time, there are a few below. The bus and the overs Return; A long time ago when Dierdrie left her little girl outside the rovers whilst she went in the pub to talk to someone. Then out of the blue a bus came crashing into the wall leaving Dierdrie to assume her daughter dead. She was frantic but it turned out that someone had taken her away before the accident actually occured. The Freshco's fiasco; Whilst shopping in their local supermaket a few members of Weatherfield ended up being held hostage and at gunpoint by a gr
oup of people. Two of the hostages were Mike Baldwin and Ken Barlow. They were not friends and hated one another, but when Mike had a heart attack Ken looked after him and they put their differences aside and became friends again. One of the gunmen was Linda's (Mike's wife) brother, then when Emma (a police woman) went in she shot him leaving him dead. Toyah's rape; Sam left Toyah after an evening out, he went home and so did she, except on the way she was raped and left unconscious in the alleyway by her house. Jason found her in the morning and she told the police everything. But the rapest wasn't caught even though everyman in Wheatherfield was DNA tested. Then one day Phil Simmons, a friend of Toyah's, came to her house to see how she was and it turned out that it was him. He was arrested and still in jail now. Those are just a few of the many great storylines Corrie has produced over the years, and hopefully there will be many more to come. Although I don't watch every episode I do like watching it. It is a great soap and deserves to be watched.
