Advantages: The Best Soap

Disadvantages: Natalie is annoying!

I’ve always preferred Corrie to the other soaps – it has that injection of humour that the others lack whatever other storylines are running alongside.

But, it appears that a new star is in the making in the form of David Platt. With his spiky, punk hairdo, broad northern accent and his trying so hard to be hard-but-cool attitude he is the son every mother would both love and hate to have.

He is, the typical prepubescent boy. Obsessed with his Playstation, sulking if he doesn’t get what he wants and constantly referring to his niece as “that flippin’ baby” he can make you smile just by appearing on-screen. He deserves more storylines like the ones with “Our Tommy” where he can really develop into his own. He’s a feisty little character who likes a laugh and get up to mischief but underneath it all has a heart of gold.

Put him and Tyrone together in a few scenes and watch a great double act appear not seen since the likes of Reg and Maureen.

Lets just hope that, in their wisdom, the producers don’t decide to send him upstairs to do his homework and emerge a new person!
