Advantages: more 9-letter words than I knew existed

Disadvantages: dull, dull, dull

Countdown has got to be one of the worst quiz shows on the whole tv schedule.

Richard Whiteley is dull.

Carol Vorderman is smug.

The contestants are either middle-aged crossword fans or 'gifted' teenagers that look as though appearing on Countdown is the most fun they've ever had.

The guests are desperate attention seeking celeb-wannabes whose agents dragged Countdown out of the hat of "things to do for your flagging career when you reach the absolute bottom of the barrel".

The format is repetitive and unstimulating.

And every single episode is a waste of 30 minutes scheduling time.

I don't agree with everything you say, but CV is so smug I have to wipe the screen after watching the show! I see she was recently involved with (I think) Tiny Computers to raise £250,000 for schools computers - for God's sake, she could write the cheque out herself!
