Countryfile

Newest Review: ... - for just 15 minutes. It is presented by Charlotte Smith, a regular face on Countryfile. I seem to remember that a few years ago, it started at 5am and went on for an hour- an unfortunate loss, I think. As our countryside and farming practices literally shrink before our eyes, it seems the documenting of this downfall is following suit. Neverthess it is really easy to keep up with both of these programmes now that BBC iplayer is so efficient at ensuring even radio programmes are available for at least 7 days after they were broadcast. It means for those pseudo-countryfolk like myself, who don't actually get up at 5am to tend the shee... more

Premium Review Countryfile- sweet nostalgia and why I love it (632 words)

There is something about Countryfile for me that is sweetly nostalgic. The entrance music that runs alongside sweeping images of arable fields, tractors and combines. Ahh, an hour of rambling countryfolk, barber jackets and welly boots is so wonderfully refreshing for people like me, trapped in suburbia. I am studying for an MA in Sustainable Development and hope to go on to work in sustainable agriculture (i.e. an excuse to be a farmer), so I can almost justify my obsession with Countryfile. I think I have watched it since I was about 10 years old and it may have had some influence on my degree choice.... In July this year, Countryfile ...  Read the complete review

Countryfile is a bit of an institution. It is regarded as a flagship of Sunday morning scheduling having been in the same broadcasting slot for as long as I can remember. As the name suggests it is based around country and environmental issues but incorporates such scope it would be wrong to assume that this program will only appeal to farmers, bird watchers and eco-warriors. The format of the show is that of a magazine, meaning that it is a collection of reports on a wide range of issues, normally about six to eight, and interim links are provided by the shows presenters. Anchorman of the show is the well known face of John Craven and he is aided in his task by ...  Read the complete review

First of all , this show has a very pleasant presenter . It has up to date topics and , similar to our opinions , it has shaped some of the conditions of the countryside . For instance , showing the importance of wild flowers and hedgerows . It also keeps very up to date with farming and what is happening to rural communities . It interviews local people and expresses their views . Also a feature at the end of this show is the weekly weather forecast , which is very important . The weekly weather forecast shows you the entire weather for each day of the week ahead . It is usually very accurate . Update. I havnt been able to watch the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Informative Countryfile (114 words)

Rating:

This programme is shown on BBC1 on Sunday mornings. Its audience limited as it is aimed at farmers and those with a strong interest in farming and countryside matters. Presented by John Craven, it looks at current, as well as ongoing issues. During the BSE crisis dairy farming was extensively covered, feeding and milking matters were paid special attention. Ongoing debates over bylaws and public access rights to paths or matters pertaining to the preservation of the countryside are also tackled. The programme is biased n favour of the farmer by way of presentation, however the content looks to be put forward in a matter of fact and logical manner. ...  Read the complete review
