Advantages: brilliant cliff hanger episodes and good character
Disadvantages: none
Having being a big fan of US Crime programmes like Bones and Without a Trace I got into the CSI programmes last year. I enjoy watching all the CSI franchises and now sky plus all CSI, CSI Miami and CSI New York each week. I only picked up on CSI late on so I have had to back work my way through the older seasons but this is great as it is always superb viewing and edge of the seat viewing. I prefer CSI Miami and CSI out of the 3 as they seem to have more action and mystery to them than CSI New York and tend to focus ore on one crime. Where as CSI New York focuses on a few different cases.
CSI Miami was the second in the franchise after the original CSI based in Vegas. The programme follows crime scene investigators in Miami and it looks at the evidence to solve the crime rather than a case of 'who dunnit' to figure out how they did it. The CSI Miami version tends to focus on one main murder and all the team work together in their different roles to solve it.
The head of the team is Horatio Caine who was a former homicide detective and Detective Frank Tripp is always on the scene. Some of the main characters in the team are Calleigh Duquesne, Eric Delko, Ryan Wolfe and Natalia Boa Vista who help to work out the evidence. Alex Woods up until season 5 was the coroner and she played a brilliant role an is now played by Tara Price. As a team they collect and analyse evidence to solve the crimes and question the suspects to help solve the crime.
The episodes always start with the gruesome murder taking place and then we follow the characters along with their journey to solve the crime. The scenery in Miami is fabulous and the colour of the programmes comes across really vividly. The special effects are brilliant and realistic when close up on the victims or creating the crime scene. There is a good subplot going on too with Horatio Cane and I like getting to know the characters personal lives which frequently get caught up in the on goings in Miami.
I personally think this is a not to be missed show and essential viewing as once you watch an episode your hooked!
Summary: a ftop notch crime show which is well written
