Advantages: fun to watch
Disadvantages: rubbish in the lab
CSI;NY is a spin off series from the original, CSI that was set in Las Vegas. Starting in sept 2004 (in America) its now on its fifth season. Created by Ann Donahue, Carol Mendelsohn and Anthony E. Zuiker its been nominated for loads of awards.
I love watching this program, I really do think its one of the best American show of the past few years. But this is going to be a slightly different review since at least once a program I get very angry; this show is full of scientific twaddle. Its not just this show all the CSI franchises are full of it!
Firstly what are crime scene investigators doing with guns out in the field? Some of the characters are police officers, but not all. The never use any of the equipment properly which is just lazy on the producers part. The time scales for results are completely unrealistic, science does not happen in 2 hours it takes day! Some of the test they do (carbon dating) are ridiculously expensive and wouldn't be done as routine, so could never provide a shock break through in the case. You can not take a picture and increase the number of pixel in it so you can see someone's face (if they're not there-they're not there!)
Enjoy it for the escapism but don't take it seriously.

- 28/05/09 I know I say this in every single episode! Every character has all the jobs of police, detective, crime scene investigator and lab technician - it's ridiculous! I do love it though! x |
