Curb Your Enthusiasm

Description: Each half-hour episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm features verité-style footage of David (playing himself) at home, at ... more
Curb Your Enthusiasm ... work and around town, as he gets into predicaments with fictional and real-life personalities. With cast regulars Jeff Garlin (as manager Jeff Greene) and Cheryl Hines (as wife Cheryl) reprising their roles, the series features appearances by guest celebrities playing themselves or character roles. Candid, unsparing and self-deprecating, Curb Your Enthusiasm brings the off-kilter comic vision of Larry David--co-creator and co-executive producer of one of the most lauded comedy series in TV history, Seinfeld--to HBO. The series blurs the lines between reality and fiction, as David (playing himself) and a cast of real and fictional characters are followed around Los Angeles by a ubiquitous camera that chronicles the private, often banal world of a (relatively) public man. Having evolved from the 1999 HBO special Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm, this series proves how seemingly trivial details of one's day-to-day life can precipitate a "Murphy's Law" chain of misfortune to hilarious effect. The protagonist of Curb Your Enthusiasm has a knack for getting himself into uncomfortable situations that end up alienating him from peers and acquaintances. The result is an unpredictable format that's unlike anything else on TV.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is an unorthodox American Sitcom starring and written by hugely successful Jewish comedian Larry David, the mastermind behind Seinfeld (the second biggest US sitcom after Friends), in which David plays himself, getting into various sticky situations as he refuses to concede to the various odd social conventions of modern-day society, frequently getting himself into a great deal of trouble in the process. The writing is sharp and very intelligent, and there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments throughout the shows various episodes, such as the one in which Larry is berated as a self-hating Jew for whistling Wagner in the street, eventually ...  Read the complete review

As soon as I watched my first ever episode of this series I knew it was for me. The series is based around Larry David, a guy that speaks his mind giving no thought to anyone around him or their feelings. You follow his day to day life where he gets himself into really awkward situations by opening his big mouth. I must add that Larry David co-wrote the seires 'Seinfeld' and this is suppose to be a documentary style programme based around his everyday life although it's all fake of course. One of the many things that make's this programme so appealing for me is the fact that he will so easily do what I would love to do. If he isn't happy with a situation, he ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Curb Your Enthusiasm: Exceptional television comedy from the creator of Seinfeld (790 words)

One of the most successful sitcoms of all time was 'Seinfeld', co-created by stand up comedian Jerry Seinfeld, and Larry David, former stand up and Saturday Night Live creator. The show followed Jerry and 3 of his friends in New York, and is a useful, though not essential precursor to watching Curb Your Enthusiasm. If you get a chance to watch Seinfeld, seasons 3 - 7 are generally considered to be the strongest, and the writing style, plot twists and season arcs will help to familiarise yourself with the set up of Curb Your Enthusiasm. The show focuses on the semi-autobiographical character of Larry David, played by...Larry David. Some parts of his character ...  Read the complete review

What can i say about Curb Your Enthusiasm, Well it is genius, intelligent and amazingly funny. The shows main character is Larry David a fictional version of himself. The show's first season introduced us to Larry David (the creator of Seinfeld) in his post Seinfeld life, He lives with his long suffering wife Cherly David (Cherly Hines) who has to put up with his misbehavings on a daily basis. Larry David is his own worste enemy, he has this image to others as being difficult, rude, angry and all round a not very nice person. Personally i think that deep down Larry David is a nice person who's got only got the best interests of his friends and family in mind, He just ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Curb Your Enthusiasm: Don't Curb it, watch it! (424 words)

I never really watched Seinfeld until it was all over. Yes, I found it funny, but it seemed a little dated and I couldn't quite see what all the fuss was about. However, it did make it's cocreator and cowriter, Larry David - a comedian in his own right - into a very rich man and he would have stayed like that, rather than a global superstar and one of the funniest characters TV has ever seen, if it wasn't for Curb Your Enthusiam. The HBO series features Larry David as himself (though an overexaggerrated form) living the high life in LA off the funds and fame that came with Seinfeld. He and his beautiful wife Cheryl live the showbiz dream and yet the show does ...  Read the complete review
