CybernetNewest Review: ... there are many things I don't like. The most obvious thing is the time it is shown. You'll never catch Cybernet before 1am, and it lurks around the schedules at 2 or even 3am. Who is watching at this time? Not children, that's for sure, and it is painfully obvious that Cybernet's style and contents are aimed at children. The presenter Lucy Longhurst talks so *nicely*. So nicely in fact that she is like a primary school teacher talking to a four-year-old. This makes her reviews rather bland. Cybernet is too scared to be honest about games. If a game is complete rubbish, she politely says it's "not the best game in t... more |

The way this country treats videogame programming has always been a sore point with me. Videogaming is now arguably a part of popular culture, not just for children, but for a generation of adults too. There was Gamesmaster, which did a good job as a kids videogame programme, then did an okay job of being a young adults videogame programme, then sadly died. If you're a "lad" you might like Bits, but I personally can't stand having three untalented women swearing at me and being embarrassingly awful. Then there is Cybernet. Cybernet is the best of a bad bunch. I quite like Cybernet because at least it does it's job more simply and ... Read the complete review

Cybernet gets an unfair hearing from me, as ther are precious few video games programmes on the box. As far as shows go, the format is poor, the narration half-hearted, the reviews pandering, the features often irrelevent, and the competition patronising. But, it's half an hour of video game footage (or 15-20 minutes of game footage, and 10-15 of needless stuff). And for the video game fan, this is just what the doctor ordered. If you like seeing the latest video games in action, and don't mind a severe lack of helpful commentary, then you really ought to get round to video taping Cybernet (it's on at 3am). ... Once again the TV world shuns the massive industry of computer games, to give us this mistake. we have never done anything bad to you so why not give us a proper programme at a proper time instead of giving this substandard, show. If you have ever seen Movies, Games and Videos, you will know the set up don't bother having a presenter you can see just some voice, then have previews, reviews and interviews. This would be fine but we don't get to have a proper review just some vague comments, the interviews are also pointless not really giving any information, and the previews just show a short clip then on to the next, and the next. The time of ... Read the complete review

Cybernet is on in the middle of the night, in the early hours of Friday morning, at about 3AM, so I always set the video for it every week. It's a fantastic show, and one of just 2 gaming shows currently on terrestrial TV. The other being Bits, which is also excellent. The funny thing about Cybernet, though, is that there's no presenter! There's just this giant robot and the voice of a woman! The show is a mixture of reviews, previews, news, features and competitions. It is very good and they always show footage of the games they are reviewing, which is great. Overall, a great show, and definately worth taping! ... Read the complete review
