Advantages: Funny, No limits.

Disadvantages: Cringeworthy, Low Budget, Perhaps repetitive after a while, no new episodes.

Ali G is a fictional character played by English actor Sacha Baron Cohen. He is a "wannabe" hip hop gangsta from a suburban part of England, who missed out on education because his teachers "ain't got nothin left dat dey can teach me". As the quote demonstrates, Ali G has his own unique dialect based on the lyrics he has heard in rap songs and that kind of hip hop culture. He travels the world interviewing the most intelligent people, but asking the stupidest questions. The interviews are not staged, they are conducted so that the people actually believe they are being interviewed by "Ali G" and that Ali G is for real (no pun intended). Ali G is one of three major Characters played by Baron Cohen, the other two being Borat (the infamous Kazakhstani journalist) and Bruno (A gay Austrian fashion reporter).

Ali G grew up in Staines in England, where his life seems to be centered around the local MacDonalds restaurant. He has campainged against hard pressing issues, such as when said restaurant began limiting the amount of ketchup each individual could take with a meal. He lived with his nan for a long period of time (as he told Parkinson) and is a peacemaker, he has ceased all drive by shootings in the whole of West Berkshire. He has a girlfriend who he calls "me Julie" and has described her as being "Well Easy".

But back to the interviews which are the central item to the Ali G show, some of the people he has interviewed include astronaute Buzz Aldrin and American presidential candidate Pat Buchanan. He said such things to Mr Aldrin as "So was you ever jealous of Louis Armstrong for being like the first man out?" or words to that effect, and to Mr Buchanan things like "Does you think Saddam could have nuclear weapons, or as they is known BLTs?".

You do not have to by the DVDs to watch this program as most of the best interviews can be watched online on youtube. Unfortunately, Ali G is now so well known that Baron Cohen has vowed he will not use his persona again, because he would be recognised and the magic would be taken out of the show.

Summary: You better check yourself before you wreck yourself.

oh man, I loved this show. It slightly grates me that so many people only know him for Borat, when he was doing Ali G for a long, LONG time before Borat became popular.

In all fairness lol I don't think Ali G, Borat or Bruno are meant to have any connection to the muslim faith?

It's certainly funny how a Jew can mock anti semitism to the extent that he does in Borat, but he's making it seem laughable, he's making idiots out of the racists.
