‘The 11 O Clock Show’ was launched in 1999 as Channel 4’s flagship evening topical comedy programme. Relative newcomers Iain Lee and Daisy Donovan were at the helm of the programme and it was the channel’s aim to launch them as their new stars. Also recruited into minor roles were the also relatively anonymous Sacha Baron-Cohen and Ricky Gervais. Flash-forward to four years later and the tables have somewhat turned. Ali G, Ricky Gervais, and now Daisy Donovan what do they all have in common? Easy going from the frankly hit and miss 11 o'clock show to having incredibly funny shows of their own. Daisy Daisy sees our heroine in the well trodden role of serious/comedy interviewer that we've seen from Louis Theroux and Ruby Wax to name just two. Daisy brings her own unique style and quite a lot of the 11 o'clock shows innuendo and language. The basic premise of the show is that daisy wants a husband. If you thought The 11 o'Clock Show was bad, you're remembering correctly. To be blunt, it was an appalling show with only one or two redeeming qualities which won it viewers. Fortunately, those qualities were indeed quality. Most famously, the show spawned the comic genius of Ali G, who left and went on to bigger and better things. Left in the shadows, though, was the equally talented Daisy Donovan.
