Advantages: fun

OK, I hold my hands up and admit it. I loved this show. Yes I'm a sado.
For those of you who never had the pleasure of watching Dale Winton get his big break, the show was made up of six twits, sorry contestants and some questions, and shopping!
So that's the brief outline, here's for the full whack description!
====Time Slot====
When I used to watch this, it came on at 9.25 in the morning straight after GMTV finished.
I think it did come on mid afternoon at some point too.
It was around half an hour long if my memory serves me correctly.
====Set====
This was designed to look like your normal supermarket - all be it a lot smaller! Each aisle was numbered and labelled with what was down it. There were special stands, such as music and videos, and even had check outs.
====Intro====
The music was a bit daft, but quite catchy. There was a voice over chap that would introduce the contestants, who played in pairs. As they were called, they'd run out from behind a shopping aisle waving madly. Then "here's your host...Daaaaale Wiiintonnnn"! Then out he'd run and always end up with a little jump and fling his arms out!
After the mini sweep, Dale would start off going down the line, talking to each contestant.
====Mini Sweep====
A question was asked, and the three conestants at the front could answer - on the buzzer. The answer to the question would be something found in the supermarket. The team that answered correctly, got to do the mini sweep. The player who didn't answer the question, had 30 seconds to run into the shop and find the item, with the S.W.E.E.P. logo on it. If they found it and got it back to Dale in the time, they got £25 towards their shopping total.
====Rounds====
Mostly these were on the buzzer type things - all related to food or shopping in some way. Only three contestants would play at once - one from each pair. If the question was answered correctly, then they'd earn time to shop later in the programme.
The games varied from memory games to a missing letters.
After about three rounds, the players would swap and we "welcomed back our other trolly dashers". Quick round up of the scores and then bye bye to the first three.
Another three rounds would be played, then the original players returned.
Now both players in each team could play in terms, in a general knowledge on the buzzer round.
====The Sweep====
Ok the aim of this part was to grab as much as you could, to ring up the highest price. Whoever ended up with the biggest bill won and went on to the Super Sweep - we'll get to that later!
Depending on how many questions were answered correctly, depended on how much time each couple got in the supermarket. Only one person from each team did the sweep with the other waiting to change over trolleys.
The team with the most time was dressed in lovely pink sweatshirts with the number 1 on it! They'd get counted in then fly around like mad things before the other teams joined them. Dale would count the others in as the time got to their amount.
Throughout the sweep, the voiceover man took over with a commentary of what was happening.
There were also bonuses there for the taking in the sweep. Giant inflateables lined the shelves, each with a cash amount of between £25 and £100 to go on their total.
The Manager's Special offered an extra £50 for finding a tin with the same colour bottom as your sweatshirt.
Dale's Shopping List was another £50 I think though it could have been more, where you collected three things he asked for.
The Egg Challenge was anther £50 for filling a tray with eggs and stacking tins was the same amount.
Pickand Mix was £50 if you collected EXACTLY 200g.
When "shopping" you could only collect three of each item.
Every time the trolley was full, they raced back to the check out to swap it over.
Once the time was up, everything went through the check out and all bonuses aded on including the £25 from the mini sweep.
The team with the highest amount, went on to the super sweep and I do believe the others went home empty handed.
====Super Sweep====
Here they both took part. They followed three clues to different items around the store - each one numbered. Under the last one was £2000 cash. But to win it, they had to pick it up before the time ran out. If they failed, they went home with the value of the goods in their trolley ie without bonuses.
====My Two Pence====
Bring it back! I always wanted to run around doing the sweep! I found the programme fun and light hearted. My dog also loved it! Whenever he heard Dale's voice, he'd wake up and watch the TV! I know I'm probably alone in my quest to bring it back, but let's face it, it has to be better than all these chat shows surely?! All together now "Yes Dale"!
Thanks for reading!
