Advantages: Brilliant concept

I started to watch Dark Angel before all the hype about Jessica Alba started and I still thought she was awesome. Anyway, Dark Angel has an amazing original concept and a great cast to help pull this through. It is post apocalyptic America and an under the radar government program called Manticore breeds the perfect soldiers. Jessica Alba as Max Guevera is the strong female lead that makes this show a success.

The Main Characters
Max Guevera - The X5 with dirty fighting tricks. One of the original X5 series to escape from Manticore, all she wants is an ordinary life and to forget the past. Unfortunately, fate has other plans and she is soon forced to use her test-tube given abilities in order to help others make the best of things in this ruined world.
Logan Cale - A do-gooder and the conscience of the show. He uses his inherited wealth to fight crime and corruption and finds it a challenge to convert Max to his side.
Donald Lydecker - Was the 'father figure' (or so he likes to think) of in charge of the X5's which escaped. He is single minded in his determination to hunt them down and bring them home.


Season 1 focuses on Max's trials and finding her place in the world. Also, audience find out exactly what she is and the tortures of her past.
Season 2 broadens its horizons to include other Manticore projects and their problems with emerging out of the dark and being known to exist in the world.

Despite its many plot inconsistencies and sometimes terrible special effects, I really love this show. There is the hard paced and brutal side of her being designed to be a soldier, and at the same time she struggles to integrate with the real world and has normal 'girl' problems.
