Advantages: Romance/Comedy/Drama all you could want.

Disadvantages: There are only six seasons.

I first started watching Dawson's Creek when it was in season 4 and I gradually became addicted to the show. They started to show earlier episodes on the TV and I caught up on the story lines. When the show had ended on television (it ran from 1998 to 2003) I bought the complete box set and watched it from start to finish.

The show is based in Capeside (a fictional town), Massachusetts and follows the lives of four teenagers Dawson, Pacey, Joey and Jen. Other major characters become introduced throughout the show including Jack, Andie and Audrey. The show mostly covers issues that every teenager will face, looking at relationships, family issues, health problems, and generally growing up. There many references to movies throughout the show as Dawson is a budding film director. At many points the show can be seen to make fun of itself with the characters joking at many points that they look like they're just out of the WB (which was the channel that originally broadcast Dawson's Creek).

The creator of the show is Kevin Williamson and he made the show semi-autobiographical. The show was filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina which now holds the set for One Tree Hill, another teenage programme. To end the show they jumped forward in time to show the characters as grown-ups allowing people to see what had happened with their lives and also to provide an answer to the long-running Dawson/Pacey/Joey love triangle.

Summary: I would highly recommend this show to both teenagers and adults.
