Day of our lives is an American daytime soap set in Salen America. It follows the lives and loves of doctors who work at the local clinic. It began in 1965. The opening titles consist of an hourglass with Dr. Horton saying: "Like sands through the hourglass; so are days of our lives". In the 1970's Dr. Marlena Evans was introduced and has remained in the show to the present day. Viewers have followed her on-off relationship with John Black. Alice Horton is one of the oldest characters, with the same actor since the show started. She's often the 'backbone' of the family, especially with her homemade donuts. Soaps are a window into fictional lives of people that we will never meet. A soap seduces you, angers you, puts a smile on your face. Days of Our Lives does all of the above. I have been watching this soap for 4 years now. And although it sometimes drives me mad, I continue to watch it, every single show.
