Advantages: Addictive, Romance
Disadvantages: Same story over and over again
Soaps are a window into fictional lives of people that we will never meet. A soap seduces you, angers you, puts a smile on your face.
Days of Our Lives does all of the above. I have been watching this soap for 4 years now. And although it sometimes drives me mad, I continue to watch it, every single show.
Days Of Our Lives is a 1 hour show that began in 1965, it the longest running soap that I know of. The show is based on families, chiefly the Bradys. Its based in the city Salem.
Like any other soap, Days has romance, intrigue, suspense, adventure, mystery, and all the other qualities of a soap.
The lives of the people in Days can be related to our daily lives: sister trying to break up you and your boyfriend; marriage gone bad and other such events.
Sometimes though, the story is way stupid. After you watch the show for about a year, you can guess the scenes, sometimes even what the actors/actresses are going to say before they've said it.
There are a few parts that are unbelievable. I mean literally, not great or amazing. In one part, Marlena (one of the characters) becomes possessed and starts terrorizing the city. I mean, what the heck is that?!
Likewise, the story does become rather boring after some time. The same plots over and over again. Person A is going to get married to a guy. Person B loves him too. He tries to break them up and succeeds. Then Person B is going to get married to the guy. And Person A is in love with him............ (and on and on it goes).
However, as I mentioned before, you can get addicted to it. It becomes like the food you eat. You have to do it every day.
Bottom line, watch it for a few months, you'll know by then whether you love it or hate it with all your heart.

A bit more detail, e.g. on acting quality and the general setting would probably merit a Very Useful from me. Take the time to write good opinions and read around and you'll find Dooyoo most rewarding :)

I think it's hilariously bad, and was a great distraction when I was a student!
A bit more about the characters and transmission times would have got it a VU, but a good start! |

This sounds like a bizarre programme! But American soaps do tend to be a bit on the wild side..I remember Sunset Beach (which I was totally addicted to!) A bit more info on transmission(channel, time, etc) is needed to get this higher ratings.
