Advantages: Sarcastic, good jokes, entertaining characters and story lines

Disadvantages: Could have done with running longer

Dead Man Weds is a warm comedy based in the fictional Fogburrow, home to the struggling parochial newspaper The Fogburrow Advertiser. Written by Dave Spikey on the back of his partnered success with Phoenix Nights, he teamed up with Johnny Vegas and wrote this short (just 6 episodes) little masterpiece. The characters at the newspaper are well played and their traits lead you to feel as if you've known them all your life - similar to Dinnerladies.

The show revolves around cattyness in the office, particularly from Lewis (Vegas) who believes he should be in charge. The village itself has a funny shop full of gossip (the prime source for Lewis' articles) called Cake That and a pub with a useless landlord and peculiar happenings going on behind the scene. Dead Man Weds is full of surprises with quite a few ridiculous story lines taking place, where the show is clever is that it seemingly pulls off the weirdness within what otherwise would be a very normal little town, making it almost believable.

The jokes come fast and thick, it's very sarcastic and has chirpy northern humour that provided good rivalry for the predictable and similar Little Britain/League of Gentleman/Catherine Tate Show trio. Unfortunately ITV didn't make the best of this show, I would be intrigued to see a 2nd series and think that it should have ran longer. Highly underrated.

Summary: Calabrezzi!

This series seemed to disappear almost as soon as it arrived!
