Deal or No Deal is a Channel 4 game show hosted by Noel Edmonds where contestants can win up to a quarter of a million pounds.

The idea of the show is this:

There are 22 potential players at the start of the game. Each player picks a sealed box each, which contains the amount of money that they will be able to win.

One of the players is picked at random by the computer to play the game, the other 21 players wait for another chance to play (they will be picked at some stage in the future, the players come back every day).

So, each of the sealed boxes has a dfferent amount of money in it ranging from 1p to £250,000. The player then has to pick boxes that they want to open, and thus take them out of the game. These boxes are opened by the other 21 people who picked them.

After the first 5 boxes are opened, 'the banker' phones Noel and says how much he'll offer the player to buy their box from them, by judging what possible amounts are left in the unopened boxes. The player then has to decide whether they want to take the banker's offer and 'deal', or play on and 'no deal' and try to get a better future offer by opening more boxes with low amounts of money in them.

The player can reject all the bankers offers and open all the boxes and they win whatever is in the box they originally picked themselves.

The show has a great format and really pulls you in. The people on it often get carried away with greed and end up not leaving with as much money as the banker offered them at some stage in the game.

One of the most annoying elements of the show, apart from Noel, is the way the other contestants give advice to the player playing by saying things like 'go with your heart' and 'I can feel I've got a low amount in my box', and things like that. All the boxes are completely random and these people try to act like they can 'sense' what's inside them! Though I must admit that I do sort of enjoy getting annoyed at them too.

In general the show is a very entertaining way to waste 45 minutes.

Summary: Very good gameshow format

Something else that's annoying is when the player encourages the audience to chant along with them! Nice review.

I used to love this but I got bored in the end, Susan
