Advantages: Great show, good format.

Disadvantages: Can become a bit repetitive

Deal Or No Deal is now shown 6 times a week on Channel 4 and repeats are readily available online and on More 4 during the day and early evening at various times.

The format of the gameshow is that there are 22 players with 22 identical sealed boxes, each containing a cash amount from 1p up to £250,000. Each day a player is selected 'at random' to play along and open up those boxes to find some cash amounts.

Each player has selected their own box at random and then the player who is selected 'at random' by the computer comes up to the centre of the room and is seated on a little round table along with the box they selected and sometimes players will have good luck charms or photographs etc and there is always a little story behind what they have.

Deal or No Deal is hosted by Noel Edmunds (Noel's House Party, Are You Smarter Than A 10 Year Old? etc) and he always seems to be wearing a hideous flower shirt which I sincerely hope he doesn't pick out himself as I find them just awful!

The player then starts the game and begins opening the remaining 21 boxes (the 22nd box is on the table with them) and they will open 5 boxes in the first round. The banker will then call and offer them a cash amount based on the boxes which they have left on their gameboard (hopefully they have opened low boxes and left more chance that they've got the £100,000 or even £250,000), the player is then asked by Noel if they would like to 'Deal Or No Deal?', quite often players will refuse the first offer as they feel that the game has plenty more to give, and I can't say I blame them!

The game continues in this manner with players then opening another 3 boxes and getting an offer from the banker. They can accept any of the bankers offers and if they do so the game will be continued as if they had never accepted the 'Deal' so that we can see what further offers would have been, this is quite often upsetting as players have taken less money than they would have got if they'd been braver.

The dealer is very devious at times and often seems to remember a lot of things that the players may have said in earlier games, he may offer a car or a holiday or similar gifts that he knows people are desperate for in the hope to tempt them in to selling him their box before the end of the game and for less money than it was worth.

There have only been two winners of the £250,000 so far as it is a very big risk to be left with £10,000 or £250,000 and have an offer of almost £100,000 on the table, I don't think I'd be brave enough to gamble!

There have also been around 9 or 10 members of the 1p club so far (players who go to the end and end up with just 1p for all of their trouble and time off work!).

I really enjoy the format of this gameshow and like to see some of the people with hard luck stories really winning and it is also nice if the banker has almost taken pity on somebody and is actually offering them very good sums of money which are quite hard to resist and you know that they will really help to change someones life.

It can get a little repetitive if you watch the show every single day but I don't do this anyway, Noel makes the show really good by having a good banter with people and making you want to return after the commercial break.

Summary: I would recommend this, an interesting game-show to occupy an hour.
