Advantages: Really Unique, Interesting, Atmosphere, Funny
Disadvantages: Idiots On The Show
Deal Or No Deal is a gameshow hosted on Channel 4 and More 4. It is produced by Noel Edmonds along with 'The Banker' who is in another room somewhere else. There are 22 players on the show and each day, one is selected at random to play the game. They take their box, which was chosen at random before the game to the table and play.
They must pick other boxes chosen by other players to open them and eliminate them from the game. There are 'blue' and 'red' boxes. The blue ones contain low cash prizes from 1p to 10p, £1.00 up to £750. The red ones contain high cash prizes such as £75,000, £100,000 and the maximum winnings of £250,000. The idea of the game is to win as much possible as eliminating the smaller cash prizes.
Apart from the first round where you choose 5 boxes, the banker will ring up Noel Edmonds and discuss his offer for the player's box on the table every 3 goes. If they have eliminated small cash prizes from the other players, their box is more likely to contain a higher cash prize so they get a higher offer.
They play to the end unless they accept a bankers offer, in which case they still play on but not in 'live play' to see what would have happened. The banker often offers the 'box swap' at the end of the game if the player is left with their own box and one more where they can swap and open the one on their table to reveal the cash prize. It's a game full of nerves but it's quite interesting to see how people play.
Although it's a serious gameshow with big cash prizes, it has an edge of humour to it too and the atmosphere in the studio is very lively with a live audience and lots of clapping and motivation for the player. It's a very unique game show and fun to watch everyday. I find it funny when a player eliminates loads of large cash prizes and insists on saying 'oh don't worry, it's ok, it's ok' when it's clearly NOT ok. It's funny to see a range of people playing from young people to the very old and there was even a deaf man on once with a communicator. It's a really unique and interesting gameshow, which I would recommend watching!
Thanks for reading,
