Advantages: Puts me to sleep
Disadvantages: Boring, game of chance made to look more than that
For me, Deal or no Deal is a TV program for people who just like to be entertained by the contestants winning or losing the game. There are no questions and there is no skill involved in this game.
Contestants just carry on being greedy until most of them lose and other contestants simply lie all the way through, 'Oh, I do hope I have the correct amount here', 'I do hope you chose the right box'.
Not that there is anything wrong with watching TV for 'vegetables' if that is the way you like to unwind. I have been known to watch this inane, cheap TV before. Well, obviously I have or I couldn't possibly hate it quite so much.
Noel Edmonds hosts this show and makes stupid remarks like 'well done' and 'good choice' when we all know that it just pure chance. The contestants are not skilled or clever and the whole stupid thing has been running for almost four years now, so I have to admit that someone must like watching it.
As for the telephone calls where an unknown person offers the contestants a deal, well, that is totally ridiculous because the whole thing relies on the fact that the contestants are so greedy that they will not win much, if they win anything at all. Some go away with pence after turning town all manner of deals.
To be fair, although I rarely watch this programme, it is cleverly constructed to bring out the greed in the contestants and make them walk away with pennies instead of the thousands they saw in their mind's eye and perhaps that is its attraction.
Summary: Main attraction for people I know is seeing greedy people lose

- 19/11/09 Golden Balls is the program that demonstrates greed at its worst.
I used to like Deal Or No Deal, when it first came out 4 years ago, but now, just watch the final 10 minutes to see what they've won(or lost)
Great review though. |
