Advantages: Has comedy moments; but covers strong, real life issues

Disadvantages: Being axed

Diagnosis murder is set in a hospital in America. This isn't an ordinary medical drama. It's about a doctor who helps his detective son investigate murders. Dick Van Dyke (From Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins) stars as Dr. Mark Sloane and Dicks real life son; Barry Van Dyke stars as his on screen son Lieutenent Steve Sloane. Others characters are the hospital boss (played by Sonny from Grease); Dr. Jack Stewart (Chachi from Happy Days); Dr Amanda; Dr. Jesse Travis and secretary Delores.

As Dick Van Dyke is a comedy actor there are many funny moments in the show. However most of the doctors and staff have almost been murdered at some point. Apart from the actual murders; Diagnosis murder has covered other issues such as; the death penalty; bereavement and pregnancy to name a few.
Diagnosis ran from 1994 to 2001. There have also been 2 or 3 made-for-tv movies.

Diagnosis is still regularly repeated in the afternoons on BBC1 in the UK.

Summary: Diagnosis murder is a programme you can't help but like
