Diagnosis murder is a detective programme set around Community general hospital.

The main character is Doctor Mark Sloan played by Dick Van Dyke, he is a chief medical examiner and who works part time as a police consultant. He lives in a beach house and loves to roller skate and in a few episodes he sings and dances (very cheesy). Dr Sloan always manages to solve the case and often with a sickly sweet outcome.

Then theres his son Steve Sloan who works as a detective and is played by Dick Van Dyke's real son Barry Van Dyke. He is very old fashioned and he ofter end up getting himself some romance with a family member of the victim. He often turns up at the last minute and makes the arrest, once his father has got a confession and a gun pointed at his head.

We also have a young Doctor the first of which was Dr Jack Stewart who had a rough upbringing untill doctor Sloan gave him a chance, in later episodes he was replaced by Dr Jesse Travis who fancied himself as a armature detective and loved to surf.

The lady Doctor of the group was the pathologist Doctor Amanda Bentley who had a privileged upbringing and was always on hand to help her friends, in later episodes she gets married and has children.

There are 2 smaller roles in the hospital, that of Dr Sloan's secretary Nurse Delores Mitchell who is only in earlier episodes and Norman Briggs who is the hospital administrator and a fuddy duddy.

All in all Diagnosis murder has got to be one of the cheesiest programmes of this genre but in my opinion is one of, if not the best.

Always delivering far fetched and over acted story lines it is easy and a delight to watch.

Summary: Passes time delightfully
