Dickinson's Real Deal

Description: ITV / Why let your antiques collect dust in the attic when you can sell them? Take money on the spot from a dealer - ... more
Dickinson's Real Deal ... or if you think the item’s worth more, turn the dealer down and choose to sell at auction instead. Host David Dickinson and the dealers are travelling around the country looking for your "bobby dazzlers". If you want to sell your goods, come along to one of our many dealer days. You too could be quids-in, like many of the people who have already taken part. As usual, David will keep an eye on the deals and give advice when needed: should you take the dealers’ cash or gamble at auction? But remember, ultimately it’s up to you to decide which option is the Real Deal.

I cannot say whether or not I agree as I couldn't care less due to the fact I cannot stand Mr. Dickinson. He wears disgusting suits, pretentious half shaped glasses, his mass of pepper grey hair and cheesy sideburns turns my stomach, permanent colour of fake tan and is, in polite ... more

Ergh, why has this taken 60 minute makeovers slot you bad ITV people!!! This programme invites people to bring antiques to the show, have a professional dealer make them an offer to purchase the item, and they decide whether or not to accept, or have the programme take the item to an auction to see if they made the right deal or not. The presenter of this show is the vile David Dickinson who used to present Bargain Hunt. Rumour has it he left because of a furious argument about him damaging the antiques trade. Love him or hate him, you have to admit that the gloriously orange-faced David Dickinson is an entertaining character - his ITV show 'Dickinson's Real Deal' is fairly entertaining too - well, entertaining as far as antiques programme's go! Shown throughout the week at 3pm, the premise is simple - Dickinson and his unusual band of 'experts' set up shop in an auction house, and invite members of the public to bring in their treasures. The experts then lay down some cash on the table, thus starting a haggling process with the 'contestant'. The antique owner can then choose to either accept the offer from the expert, or gamble by putting their item up for auction ...  Read the complete review

Dickinsons Real Deal is another of David Dickinson's Student favourates. It can be found on ITV1 during the daytime TV viewing hours of 3pm till 4pm (However, it is sometimes on at 2pm till 3pm depending on the other programmes on at the time of year). It involves the show touring around the UK with a team of antiques experts, comprising of the backstage valuers to give an independant evaluation, as well as the 'famous faces' including Ian Towning, Mike Melody, Simon Schneider and more. Members of the general public then approach the experts with items which could be described as 'antique' or 'specialist' and try and haggle to get an offer. It is a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The permanently tangoed TV presenter (468 words)

Dickinson's Real Deal is a programme presented by the orange man of daytime TV, David Dickinson, as he patrold the country in search of people willing to put up some of their dusty household items for sale in front of a dealer. If they don't want to make the deal with the dealer, they can then put the item up for auction to see if they made a good decision or not. This, essentially, is the show, although there is naturally a bit more excitement involved. We are all nosy in some way, and I personally like a good old look at what people are hording in their attics. Some items are sold to a dealer who snaps up a complete bargain, but it's always good when you see ...  Read the complete review

Some people have faces that you just want to punch and I do not mean a friendly tap rather the continual pumelling until they are an unrecognisable bloody mass and the host of this dire TV show David Dickinson is just such a character for me, he has this ultra bright gurning smile plasstered across an orange tanned face with skin that looks like the fake leather on a cheap knock off hand bag. Add in a rather sanctimonious attitude and demanour and the reasons my thoughts turn to violence are very obvious. The concept of the actual show is not that bad, a bit like Antiques Roadshow but with a slightly game show feel to it as members of the public bring their ...  Read the complete review
