Advantages: Exciting, science fiction with a brilliant cast.
Disadvantages: Only 13 episode seasons :-(
Daleks, Cybermen, and the Tardis. Three things I won't mention again in this review I promise.
I watched this show when the new series started airing again in 2005 on prompting from my parents, not really expecting much from it. I followed the hype in the build up seeing about the actors to be involved and with the exception of Billie Piper, didn't recognise any names at the time.
After watching the first episode 'Rose' I was hooked. Here was a show that involved action, excitement, science fiction and some complete, unadulterated, tosh. It was brilliant. I didn't know who the Doctor was meant to be but somehow I just knew that Christopher Eccleston had got this enigmatic alien Time Lord nailed. The Doctor and his companion Rose went through a whole series of adventures together and got a whole nation hooked upon Doctor Who all over again and then Christopher left...
David Tennant of Cassanova fame stepped in to take over the role as The Doctor, Rose mirrored our own views on the screen, who was the newcomer and what was he doing taking over from our Doctor? However David took the roll of the Doctor and developed him into something altogether new but still exciting. Eventually companions came and went but we continued to love David and he has become known as one of the greatest Doctors of all time with bigger, bolder and scarier adventures in time and space.
Since this time we have had a number of Christmas specials each of which has given a special festive twist to the Time Lord's adventures.
Overall Doctor Who has shown in the last half decade that it doesn't matter on the generation, the show is something that definitely can transcend time and infect a whole generation all over again.
Summary: An amazing show for the whole family!
