Advantages: realistic, powerful drama, comedy, good storylines, great actors

Disadvantages: Some of the single episode stories can be a bit weak

Doctors is a BBC One daytime soap/drama.
It focuses on a group of Doctors/nurses and the receptionists who work between two doctors surgeries, The Mill health centre, and the Campus Surgery which is a new surgery opened at the local university.
The 30 minute episodes focus on a main individual storyline featuring different people each episode with their own story which intertwines with one ore more of the surgery staff, and there is usually one or more stories going on in the doctors/nurses life. The stories which feature the doctors/nurses/receptionists are often featured over several episodes and will often involve different people at different times.

I'm really not sure why BBC only puts Doctors on at 1:45pm as it is usually a really good show and could easily compete in the evening with other high quality dramas. Some of the stories featured in Doctors have been so powerful and emotional. One of the best stories they are doing at the minute is about the main receptionist who got attacked and raped in her own home and only one of the doctors knew about it, but now she has told everyone of the employees and the trial is coming up soon. The story is brilliant and the receptionist, Vivian, is a great character and actress.

Infact all the actors/actresses are brilliant and really good at both comedy storylines and emotional stories and there have been several times when i have been close to tears.

I won't go into all the characters and stories as it will take me a long time, but this show is not that same as other british soaps even though it is classed as a soap. There are fewer characters and we do not delve as much into all their personal lives but i like the way they have done this show. Each episode is treated a bit seperate having their own titles and different storylines each time which makes it a nice change to other soaps.

I do recommend this show, it really does deserve an evening slot like neighbours used to have. It may be hard to first get in to but that is the same with all soaps, give it a try if you can and see what you think yourself.
