Advantages: Funny, romantic and culturally interesting
Disadvantages: The constant moaning of most of the Brides (but this is amusing)
BBC3 show Don't Tell The Bride is fundamentally a programme about wedding planning with a interesting twist.
The twist is the Bride is sent to live with a friend or relative for 3 weeks before the wedding is to happen and to have no contact with the groom whilst he gets £12,000 to plan and execute the whole thing without any input from the Bride.
The groom has only 3 weeks to organise the venue, the flowers, the catering, the transportation, the suits and probably most controversially the dresses for both the Bride and her Bridegrooms.
The programme shows weddings from all different cultures and the contestant/couples featured on the show come from a variety of different backgrounds. Which makes this programme all the more interesting.
Having gotten married recently i know all about how organising a wedding can be a bit of a chore, hence why my wife and I chose to fly to Las Vegas on our own and got married there. But i think for someone who is getting married in the near future this programme can also give you tips on how to get the most for your money and how to haggle down a bargin.
The show is very funny as often the grooms sort out the stag night and entertainment before anything else and when it comes down to the details of table dressing and flowers is when things start to get a little tricky and they sometimes end up with nothing in the budget and forgetting to get shoes to match the dress for the bride or something most men wouldn't think about.
I think its very obvious the Grooms don't get the opportunity to see the finished show before the wedding goes ahead because the lack of faith the Brides seem to put in the Grooms ability to pull of her perfect day is quite amazing and quite terrifying at the same time, especially when the show also follows the Bride as she goes through the venues and dresses she would chose if it was her choice.
I normally dont watch TV shows like this as i tend to think wedding shows are mainly geared towards a female audience, but this works for both a male a female audience and proves that men aren't useless given the opportunity to get involved.
Funny, romantic and the occasional temper tantrum proves for yet another great BBC3 programme.
Summary: Great entertainment and you can get quite a few tips
