Dr. Who 2005Newest Review: ... such a the cybermen and daleks. These are then changed slightly from the originals and end up worse. Both Christopher Eccletson and David Tennant made good doctors but Catherine Tate as an asistant?!? Some of The sets are admitedly better than the old ones, but so many episodes are set on Earth when they could be making the most of their high budget to produce some amazing space sets. However, rant over, the show is good for many old fans as the very basic idea still stands. They still have the Tardis, they still battle Aliens and he still carries the sonik screwdriver. The scripts are poor and there are many failed attempts at jokes. ... more |

The new doctor who is going very strong and has a huge fanbase but for fans of the old episodes (at least me) it is nowhere near as good. The creatures and aliens often rely on CGI which doesn't look as realistic as a fanc dress costume, and when they do have costumes they have relied on old monsters such a the cybermen and daleks. This is a review on the latest series of Dr Who. what a series it has been, i have to admit i was so anxious to see what would happen during the last episode in the series, the doctor has just been hit by a darlek and had started his regeneration cycle, for all of you who follow the series you know that he was going to change, i personnally think that david tennant has been a fantastic doctor much better than christopher eccleston and was sad to see him go but those clever writers on dr who managed to think of a story line so that the doctor used his 'regeneration energy' to heal himself then he channeled the remaining energy into the hand he had kept (from series two) ... Perhaps I am slightly biased here or perhaps things have actually improved. The latest re-incarnations of the infamous Dr have only served to re-kindle a flame which for a long time seemed destined to flicker into non existence. I love all things Sci-Fi but I seem to like them far more if they are home bred. During the first creative years of Dr Who it seems that it was the corny sets and even cornier special effects that set it apart from the rest. The stories and plots kept us hanging onto the backs of the sofa as the Daleks and Cybermen wrecked havoc across the galaxy. The Doctors each had their own little quirks and things seemed to be going along ... Read the complete review

So, after a long absence from our screens, Doctor Who has returned. It's been a few weeks since the last episode was shown in the UK - so it's time for a look back, away from all the hype. Was it actually any good? But first, what is my angle? I was a Doctor Who fan during the 1980s and 90s, read books, watched videos, etc. I lost interest about ten years ago but the hype leading up to the new series for 2005 reignited it a little. As a fan, I was interested to see what these new adventures would be like. Spoiler warning - for those yet to see the new series, avoid this review :) Still geared towards a family audience, the new series ... Read the complete review

For those of you who have been away visiting relatives on another planet, a new series of the Science Fiction drama series Dr Who has returned to our screens after a long absence. For those of you who are also unaware of what Dr Who is please allow me to give you a bit of brief background, before moving onto the 2005 series. ~~~A BRIEF HISTORY OF TIME (TRAVEL). Dr Who began life on our television screens in November 1963 as a children’s teatime science fiction serial. The show was basically about an alien from the planet Gallifrey (of course we don’t know all about him to begin with) who travels through time and space in a machine known as the ...
