Reality TV worth watching (Dragon's Den)

Advantages: Great entertainment, great reality tv (lord knows we need it)

Disadvantages: I just cannot understand Evan Davis' recapping at the end

With the influx of reality tv shows over the last few years I have to say I think Dragon's Den is up there with the best of them.

The idea is that an entrepeneur will pitch his/her idea (which is usually an invention) to the five 'Dragons' (a group of self made millionaire businessmen/women) in the hope of gaining financial investment and the Dragon's inside knowledge of the industry to help these entrepeneurs get started in the business world. If a deal is struck for investment in the company the Dragon would then hold a percentage stake in the company and would of course then take a percentage of the profits etc.

The Dragons can be very stern and to the point and pick away at the entrepeneurs ideas, ask them about projected sales figures, profits and so forth, occasionally leaving them stuck for words and panicking, having realised the Dragons have found flaws in their idea and knowing that they haven't come to 'The Den' fully prepared.

I haven't seen many deals struck on the show but when they are it tends to be for a much greater stake in the company than the entrepeneur was originally anticipating and sometimes, for less money too. Alternatively two or more Dragons will express an interest and make a joint bid so as to reduce financial risk.

If, like me, you have heard about this show from friends and seen it advertised but never watched it, give it a go, it's fantastic entertainment and hugely enjoyable. The banter between the Dragons is also well worth tuning in for.

Summary: Dragon's Den is a big success and is well worth a watch
