Waterloo Road:
... s drama Waterloo Road , now in it s sixth series, is set in a Rochdale comprehensive school depicting the life of both teacher and pupil. The teachers cover just about every character cliché you can think of (the flirty middle-aged French teacher, grumpy English teacher, trendy art teacher, gay drama/music teacher etc.). Yet having said this...it seems to work...very well. With the student characters there ar... Read the full review: More than just a TV drama? by Susieg74 |

Desperate Housewives ... the first two minutes of the pilot episode, you quickly realise that Desperate Housewives will not be your typical soap opera. The bright and breezy, Mary Alice tells us of the unusual day she had the week prior - she made breakfast for her family, ran errands and then pulled out an unused revolver from her closet, and killed herself. Each episode is framed by Mary Alice s voiceovers, as she comments on the lives of the friends she has left behind and the lives they lead. The programme is set on Wisteria Lane, a street which wears the veneer of a typical Californian suburb but is anything but. It s a running theme through the series, that appearances can be deceiv... 24 ... is a brilliantly innovative TV show that launched in 2002, and although it has become a bit formulaic and unoriginal now, it was at the height of its success pretty much the best and most unique show on TV. Its concept is unlike anything I ve ever seen: it runs on real time, meaning that each of the 24 episodes represents one hour of a day in the life of Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), a Federal Agent for the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU). Each season deals with Bauer trying to stop a different terrorist threat; Season 1 involved him trying to prevent a plot to assassinate President David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert), as well as retrieve his kidnapped wife Teri (Leslie Ho... The Sopranos ... Sopranos is, in my opinion, the best TV show ever made. It is the show that, along with HBO s Oz, really put HBO on the map, and is a testament to the quality that the TV medium can bring about despite having lower budgets than film. If you ever liked The Godfather or Goodfellas, then this is the show for you, because it s basically a TV version of that concept. The show is set in New Jersey, and revolves around mobster Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), a man who desperately attempts to juggle his mob life with that of his family life. He has a wife, Carmella (Edie Falco), who is loyal despite half-knowing that he is involved in some dirty business, as well as a son, ...
