Advantages: its Football, Lots of nice ladies
Disadvantages: Very high cast turnover
Dream Team is a completly original idea for a soap devised by Sky One and focuses on the plight of fictional Premiership team Harchester United. The team otherwise know as the dragons, have played at two grounds durin the season, Addison Road which they used Leicesters Filbert Street ground for a double of there original stadium Addison Road, and they are now using the New Den, Millwall for the Dragons Lair. This year will see the start of the 6th season of Dream Team and after the cliff hanging end to last season (i'll talk about that in a bit) its going to be a must watch. So i thought id write this opinion to give some back ground into a quality series. Season 1 The very first episode of Dream Team see's Ron Atkinson as the manager of the dragons be he leaves very early in this episode and is replaced by Ian Coates. The first episode also sees Dean Hocknell (Darren Morfitt) making his his Harchester debutand also sleeping with the chairmans 16 year old daugther (Clemency Burton-Hill) in the Board room of which there is a tape made on the security camera. Around about Christmas time in this first series the chairman Michael Jacobs (David Hunt) dies of a heart attack and is replaced by his ex wife. All the episodes in the 1st series of Dream Team were half an hour long and this was almost the shortest series of the lot. Season 2 The new season begins with the arrival of the new club chairman Jerry Block (Michael Melia) who has bought the club for 25 million. Dean Hocknell has been loaned out to Galatasary and is replaced in the first team by his brother Sean (Daymon Britton) and Karl Fletcher (Terry Kiely). About mid season another striker arrives at the club Argentinian International Luis Amor Rodriguez (Martin Crewes). And the new striker is straight into the action when he starts having an affair with Jerry Block's wife Linda (Alison King). The Dragons make it to the FA cup final this season and beat Manch
ester United to lift the cup. As they celebrate winning the trophy Gerry Block has hired a hit man to take out Luis, the series finishes with two loud shots. Season 3 The new season begins with a funneral and the revalation that neither shot hit there intended target but one of them did kill centre back John Black who dived in front of Linda. We also find that Karl Fletcher has moved on from the club and joined Real Mallorca. Then a few weeks after thison a return flight from a game in amsterdam a few players on a private flight are killed as there plane crashes, killing Sean Hocknell and Leon Richards (Nathan Constance). During the remainder of the season Jerry Block is suspected of bribary and so sells 39% of his share to Prashant Dattani (Ramon Tikaran) and is forced to leave the rest to Linda before fleeing to Rio. Prash then trying to gain full control of the club is told by Linda that she will sell if they are relagated. So Prash bribes Didier Baptise to throw the last game to get relegated. But Linda realises what is going on and tells Prash she will now sell if they stay up. So as the season ends Didier is taking a penalty and the last scene is him taking the penalty but the result is not found out till the next season. The epsiodes are now up to one hour long. Season 4 Karl Fletcher returns at the start of this season after a year in Spain. Most of the real action happens towards the end of this series as the main storyline is the power struggle between Linda and Prash. Monday Bandele (Louise Decosta Johnson) a Nigerian international striker joins the club from PSG but dosn't qualify for a work permit so he ends up married to a young irish girl on a trip to Dublin while they try to sort something out for him to stay and this is the perfect answer. But as Monday falls for her she gets homesick and goes back to Dublin. The season finale has Prash in full control of the club but lying dead in his office after being clu
bbed to death. Season 5 This season sees the arrival of another chairman Samuel Irving (the guy who was Paul Robinson in Neighbours) and his daughter Claudia. The normal sub plots carry on throughout this series as they have with all the others and i could sit here for a lot longer telling you about them. Fletcher is wrongfully accused and imprisoned for the murder of Prash until Linda admits it was actually her. And now for the end of series i was talking bout before. While the team are on there way to the UEFA cup final the bus with the entire team on it crashes and bursts into flames, so the new series will revela who has survived. So if you haven't managed to catch an episode of Dream Team i suggest you try to when the new series starts hopefully they wont have a completly new team again.
