Driving Mum and Dad Mad ... won’t do anything he doesn’t want to. He watches lots of horror films and is heavily influenced by them – acting out scenes and quoting one-liners. Jamie owns three pellet guns which he uses as props to act out scenes and occasionally uses his sister Kensie, 8, as his target. He sometimes grabs weapons from the kitchen and wields them at his mum. Christine has tried pretty much everything in the past to try and curb Jamie’s behaviour – but nothing has ever worked. She recently resorted to moving house and schools in the hope that mixing with new children might have an impact on him.

“Driving Mum and Dad Mad”, is the latest in a long line of TV programmes that claim to make your naughty kids into little angels over the course of a few weeks. What makes this programme different for me is that the professional who runs the courses in parenting, Claire Halsey, never actually meets the kids and never witnesses first hand what sets them off. She watches video footage of the naughty kids and then over the course of 8 weeks she guides the families with verbal and written instructions on techniques and philosophies to make them better behaved and on the whole much easier kids to live with.
