Due SouthNewest Review: ... by his half wolf half dog Diefenbaker. ** The Characters ** * Constable Benton Fraser * Constable Benton Fraser is the "typical" Mountie, polite and compulsively truthful; which often lead to brilliantly hilarious and slightly uncomfortable moments where he has his moral code tested. He seems to have an unusual knowledge about practically everything, more often than not obscure things, which is often attributed to his grandparents being librarians. He has a range of "abilties" including emerging from any explosion or fall with her uniform unwrinkled and spotless. He also uses his "sniff and lick" tech... more |

** The Programme ** Due South is a Canadian television programme that mixes both comedy and drama. The programme first aired in 1994 and ran until 1999. It follows Royal Canadian Mounted Police Officer Constable Benton Fraser and his half wolf half dog companion Diefenbaker. The pair find themselves living in Chicago, where Fraser's policing methods aren't taken too seriously. ** The Story ** The basic storyline centers around a Constable from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police by the name of Benton Fraser (Paul Gross). Constable Fraser travels to Chicago to try and solve the murder of his father. He meets his new partner Detective ... Read the complete review

WHAT IS IT ABOUT: Due South is a police drama series where the emphasis is on light-hearted comedy. The show centers around Benton Fraser (Paul Gross), a Canadian Mountie working in the US with street-wise cop Ray Vecchio. The storylines revolve around Benton's calm approach to police-work, as opposed to Ray's fast paced 'bad cop' image. IS IT ANY GOOD: Here's another show I grew up with, and one that can still be seen today. The show used to be a firm favourite, but now I'm not so sure. There are a few pluses and minuses, such as: 1) The characters - Whilst we've seen tough cop Ray's type before a hundred times, there's something ... Read the complete review

Its been awhile since I first watched this TV program, it stars Paul Gross as Benton Frazer a fictional Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer who went to Chicago with his half-wolf Diefenbaker (who is death but can read lips) to try and find the killer of his father. He eventually gets transfered to Chicago where he works as a liasion officer to the Chicago police department. His methods seem different to the police and the show is part comedy spoof and part police drama. He is partnered up with a Chicago police detective Raymond Vecchio. It is full of sterotpical characters as Benton Frazor is what you would expect from sterotypes as ... Read the complete review

It has to be said that canadians really are nice people, and this show just proves it even more. Constable Benton Fraser is by far the most perfect individual in the world of TV, he's a model mountie, and always gets his man, even when it takes him years of his life. And he always has his faithful companion along for the ride, the half deaf wolf (who i've been informed actually changed halfway through the series, can't say I noticed!). Benton goes to chicago looking for the murderer of his father, where he meets Det. Ray Veccio, and they end up working together unofficially, to solve all manner of crimes in chicago (and a few in Canada). The ... Read the complete review
