Advantages: Dramatic storylines, lovable characters and a great break from reality

Disadvantages: Some of the storylines are a bit far fetched

Eastenders is one of the nation's favourite soaps, first broadcast in 1985, and has continued to entertain the families of the UK ever since! I have watched this soap four times a week for as long as I can remember, and am embarrassed to say that I feel I know some of the characters better than some of my friends!!!

It is broadcast three times a week on BBC1, at 8pm on Monday, 7.30pm on Tuesday and Thursday and 8pm on Friday. It is also broadcast in one big chunk on a Sunday afternoon.

The characters are really quite believable, and you really feel that you connect with them. Some of the families in the soap have been on the square since the soap began in 1985, and I think Dot Cotton is one of the only characters still in it from the first episode.

Like most soaps, some of the storylines are a bit far fetched, but if it were exactly like reality it would be boring! It has a nice mix of cutesy humour and dramatic stories (particularly around Christmas time), which give you a great break from the every day routine!
