* Eastenders *
Eastenders is a British award-winning television soap opera which has been running since 1985. The show is broadcast on BBC1 (sky channel 101) mondays 8:00-8:30pm , Tuesdays 7:30-8:00pm , Thursdays 7:30-8:00pm and Fridays 8:00-8:30pm. The Eastenders omnibus is also shown on Sundays on BBC1 at various times. BBC3 also shows repeats of the latest Eastenders episodes. Eastenders is filmed about 6-8 weeks before broadcast.

Eastenders is set in a fictional location named Albert Sqaure. Eastenders is set in the East End of London hence it's name.
Eastenders was created by Julia Smith and Tony Holland. The show is filmed in Elstree Studios. The running time of Eastenders episodes are between 27-60 minutes.

* Albert Square *
Albert Square has a famous fictional pub called "The Queen Victoria" (Queen Vic in short). The pub is currently owned by Phil Mitchell and run by his mother Peggy Mitchell. The pub is where all the cast meet up.

The square has a cafe run by Ian Beale. This is probably the second best location where the cast meet after the pub. Ian Beale also owns a chip shop on the square.
* Some of the Eastenders Characters *

* Dot Branning - played by June Brown *
Dot first appeared in Eastenders on 4th July 1985. She is married to Jim Branning and together they live at 25 Albert Square. Dot works at the local launderette as a laundrette assistant. She previously worked there with her best friend Pauline Fowler , however Pauline died on Christmas Day 2006.
Dot is a true christian and regulary attends church. She is a heavy smoker. Dot is always willing to help those in need. She has one son Nick. Nick had a son named Ashley however he was killed in a motorcycle accident.

* Phil Mitchell - played by Steven McFadden*
Phil Mitchell first appeared on Eastenders on 20th February 1990. He currently lives with his mother Peggy Mitchell , Son Ben and his two cousins Ronnie and Roxie , at the Queen Pub which he runs. He is a local businessman. He has been married three times : first to Nadia Borovac , then to Kathy Beale and then finally Kate Morton. He has one brother named Grant and a sister called Sam. He has one son Ben (by Kathy) and a daughter named Louise by his ex Lisa. He also owns the local garage.
He is a very tough character who is violent. He has an ongoing feud with Ian Beale ; Phil is always trying to find something to pick on Ian about. Phil is an alcoholic. Phil was involved in one of the biggest soap storylines every , when he was shot. The answer to what became a famous question "Who shot Phil Mitchell ?" was finally revealed after weeks of guessing ; his partner Lisa had shot him. Phil survived!

* Patrick Truman - played by Rudolph Walker *
Patrick first appeared on Eastenders on 13th September 2001. Patrick is married to Yolande Truman and together they live at 18 Albert Sqaure. Patrick was previously married to Audrey Truman. He has one son named Anthony. Patrick is a local shopkeeper.

* Stacey Branning - played by Lacey Turner *
Stacey's first appearance was on 2nd November 2004. Stacey lives at 23 Albert Square with her mother Jean. She has one brother named Sean (who is very fit!). She owns a market stall selling Clothes. She is good friends with Steven Beale. Stacey married Bradley Branning however , she was cheating on him with his father Max the whole time. The truth was revealed on Christmas Day 2007 when Max's daughter Libby found the wedding video and it showed Stacey and Max kissing. This caused Stacey and Bradley to split after a short marriage and also tore apart Max's family which consists of his wife Tanya , two daughters Lauren and Abbie and new baby boy Oscar. Stacey is my least favourite Eastenders Character because she's constantly miserable and hardly ever smiles. Stacey is feisty and sometimes bitchy , however she does have a softer sensitive side which is sometimes shown. Stacey is a member of the Slater family.

* Shabnam Masood - played by Zahra Ahmadi *
Shabnam first appeared on Eastenders on 17th July 2007. She lives at 41 Albert Square with her family. She is a post office worker. Her mother is called Zainab and her father is Masood. She has a brother named Tamwar. She's 21 and when she arrived has just come from university.She did not know what she wanted to do , so her mother gave her a job in the post office which she runs.

* Tanya Branning - played by Jo Joyner *
Tanya's first appearance was on 27th June 2006. She is a business women and currently lives at 5 Albert Square with her two daughters Lauren and Abbie and her baby son Oscar. She is seperated from her husband Max after he had an affair with Stacey. She is currently secretly dating Stacey's (hot) brother Sean , however she is "taking Max back" , although really she is just setting him up. Tanya owns the local beauty Salon.

* My opinion *
Eastenders is my favourite soap. It has some interesting storylines and characters. I like how the all the Eastenders families are strong and help eachother out when they're experiencing a crisis. Eastenders stories are nearly always close to real life and the storylines aren't too far fetched. My favourite Eastenders storyline to date was the love triangle between Max , stacey and Bradley. Eastenders is great too watch after a stressful day because it alows me to escape and focus on "someone else's life". I reccommend Eastenders to everyone , from children to teens to adults. It's great entertainment for all the family. I give Eastenders a 9/10

Thanks for Reading :)
