Advantages: Its a great programme
Disadvantages: They should give Ian a better chance
Years and years ago when Eastenders just started, Ian trained to be a boxer, and I think he even won a few matches before retiring and going into the cafe business. However now with him being a rather more unpopular member of the square with the other residents, he seems to have turned into a bit of a wimp. Ok so he's had a hard and full life (what with him being a soap character), but I would have thought that someone who had training and has stepped into a ring would remember how to dodge a blow, or even block one, but he never does. Several characters have all taken a swing at him, Kat has pushed him over, I'm almost sure Nick has had a run in with him, and all this business with Phil is just a little melodramatic. Ian shouldn't be so scared of Phil, granted he doesn't stand much of a chance in a brawl, but you don't just forget how to fight, and how to dodge people attacking you. I want Ian to finally win an argument, even if its only against one of his many children he never fathered. He even ran a loan agency. How many wimps would do that, or last at it. I reckon Eastenders should give Ian a better chance, and instead of always making him the stressed unpopular business man who always come out second best (socially, and now financially), he should be allowed to stand up for himself. I'm not saying that he should start fights and all the rest, but he shouldn't be a doormat for eveyone else.
