They deserve an award (Eastenders)

Eastenders in the past may have been accused of 'rubbish' storylines and poor castings but recently they have both been brilliant.

The current storyline of the Slater family and the subject of incest was played with sensitivy and immense emotion. Kat although seen as the 'dogs dinner' played the role as a 'pedigree', moving the audience to tears. You could be excused in thinking that she had actually been raped and abused by her uncle and pushed into the backgound as a 13 year old who was incapable of making her own decisons.

The story not only portrayed her feelings of betrayal from her parents (they wouldn't let her keep Zoe;the baby, as her own and raised her themselves)her fear and confusion but of her love for her daughter and feeling abandoned by her father, who she desperately wanted to cuddle her to make her feel safe and wanted. It showed the effects on the rest of the family; the secrets,shock and disgust that their uncle could have done such a thing.

Both Kat and Zoe deserve an award for their part in the story, they have done so much better than any other actor in the soap with a similar tense story line.

At last the script is improving, well done Eastenders.
