This soap used to be called Emmerdale Farm and it was different then. It was all about the everyday life of a farming community. From time to time catastrophic events happened, like the plane crash and the fire which killed Kim's paramour but it was generally an easy going, slow moving soap where we knew the characters and how they were likely to react.

It has all changed now because it isn't about farming anymore. The stud farm is mentioned at times and we get the odd reference to Jack's farm but I think that the script could be delivered from more or less any setting now and it would fit.

Emmerdale is like a mixture of Coronation Street and Easteanders in a country village instead of in a city. I don't enjoy it as much as I used to.
