Advantages: Great talent, catchy songs and an all round great show.

Disadvantages: None, that's a first for 'Eurovision'!

2009 may just have been the turning point in 'Eurovision' history. No longer is the infamous song contest just a political fight with countries voting for their allies. This year we saw talent, we saw voting from the public based on this talent, which instills hope that 'Eurovision' may just be back to what it should have always been; a European song contest with great talent captured in an entertaining evening.

This year the way 'Eurovision' began was a great deal different to any of the previous years, with contestants actually promotion their song around each country to build up support and interest. It means we no longer have one hit wonders, with songs growing on people before the final night when the magic happens.

The event this year was in Moscow, after a fantastic victory for them back in 2008. The stadium was electrifying, full of special lighting effects and it really was quite a show stopping performance. With a well known circus act starting off the show and other acts - a famous water stunt high above the audiences heads - to add that 'je ne ce quoi'!

This year we saw 25 fantastic performances from countries all over Europe, in all honesty I don't think there were many that were truly a shamballs, maybe one or two acts that really were quite rubbish, but apart from that the night was outstanding. I sat there watching it, with a hint of surprise on my face. I couldn't quite believe how we had gone from a show that was beginning to become full of trashy, can't sing, acts, into a show that presented some really quite brilliant talent.

Representing the UK this year was Jade Ewen, a singer who won the BBC's show 'Make Your Mind Up' (a show which finds the act that will represent the UK). Andrew Lloyd Webber helped to write a create, what is a fantastic ballad, unfortunately not one that will stand the test of time, but it was brilliant for 'Eurovision'. It was powerful and really showed off Jade's vocal talent.

We didn't win this year's song contest, but from coming in the bottom few last year, we made a huge gain! From near the bottom to fifth place! The talent above us definitely deserved their places, so it we can be proud that we did a damn good job.

Taking the title this year was a very catchy song from Norway. Not only was the song great, but I'm sure girls all around Europe were voting for this cheeky chappy. 'Fairytale' entered the UK charts at number 10, showing just how popular it was in this country. The song managed five number one's across Europe - pretty impressive!

Having enjoyed this years contest, I think it's safe to say 'Eurovision' is getting back on track, bringing us great talent every year, and at least it's not a political fight this time round! I'll be looking forward to next years contest, something I very rarely say!

Summary: Fantastic show this year! Jade Ewen did the UK proud!

Just back from Norway they were very pleased to win, even though the boy wasn't Norweigan. Jo x

I loved the eurovision this year!!! It helped that we did ok for once too. Hated the Norway song at first but it is definitely a grower and that fiddle is constantly going round in my head! x

I loved Eurovision this year, but didn't think that Norway's song was even that great or memorable. I loved Ukraine, Germany and Azerbaijan, but only the latter did well. Great fun to watch anyway.
