Everybody Loves Raymond is an American television sitcom
The show revolves around the life of Raymond Barone (Ray Romano), sportswriter from, Long Island, and his family. Ray is a bit lazy around the house and does not take many things seriously, making jokes in nearly every situation, no matter how troubling or problematic, apart from his health and his mother both of which cause him a lot of anxiety and paranoia.
He lives with his wife Debra (Patricia Heaton), their daughter Ally and their identical twin sons Michael and Geoffrey. Ray's parents, Marie and Frank, and brother Robert, live across the street, (directly across the street) and constantly visit or to put it bluntly just walk in, much to the frustration of Ray and Debra. Debra's frequent complaints about Ray's family were a running joke Marie, Rays mum is very interfering and always thinks she knows best whether that be family problems, cleaning and most frequently cooking, something Debra is not great at to say the least.
Ray often finds himself in the middle of all the problems and arguments. His brother Robert a New York Police officer is insecure and jealous about Ray being the favourite son, constantly spoilt by Marie, and the fact he has a great wife and kids. Although Robert and Ray fight and argue they also help each other out with Mum & Dad problems.
Their father Frank is very insulting to all family members and generally grumpy and abusive to outsiders, does not like to show his real feelings, such as not wanting to admit caring for and stroking the pet rabbit the boys neglected in there youth. His wife Marie is the constant butt of his jokes and insults but he loves her and the family very much, almost as much as Marie's home cooking.
Ray and Debra have their share of marital disagreements, this leads to Debra frequently denying Ray sex, and Ray preferring to watch sports, television or play golf to talking to his wife. The kids run rings around Ray who finds it much easier to let them do what they want rather than deal with them a philosophy he uses throughout the rest of his life, siding with whoever benefits him best at the time.
Sadly they are no longer making new shows but the old ones can be seen regularly on channel 4, and the comedy central channels run old episodes several times a day.
Watch the show and get to know the family and I guarantee you will know a member of your family who reminds you of one of the Barone family, just hope that it isn't you especially if you are thinking of Frank.
Good family comedy! Although there are long running themes and back story lines you do not need to watch it from the very first episode, join in where ever you like and enjoy!
Summary: Good family fun
