Advantages: Entertaining banter and happenings in the bingo hall

Disadvantages: Limited possibilities

To be honest I'd never been a fan of Phil O'Grady's, neither as himself or Lily Savage but when the ageing scouser starred in Eyes Down, I was pleasantly surprised. Long since forgotten and taken off air as quickly as it came on to ITV - Eyes Down, like the episode of That Peter Kay Thing with the same name revolves around a bingo hall.

In a similar manner to Dinnerladies, it features just a handful of characters in the main roles but the comedic acting talent is quite valuable. It stars Sheridan Smith (2 Pints of Lager, Royle Family, Gavin & Stacy) Neil Fitzmaurice (Phoenix Nights, Peep Show) and Edna Dore (The Liver Birds, Z Cars, Terry and June, Eastenders), one of the best characters however is Martin who has one of the maddest hairstyles ever and is a bit tubby, much of the series tracks him trying to chat up Christine who has lived a sheltered life with her chihuahua since a failed marriage some years before. Some of the advice Bobby provides him with is highly hillarious and the chirpy scouseness of this show is extremely jolly. Ray's (O Grady's) sarcasm and high standards are quite contrary to his workload shy staff's.

This was easy to watch, entertaining and probably ran its course to be fair but I do think it was a bit low-key and the opening titles with a nice little salsa soundtrack is much missed by me!

Summary: Not bad at all
